Sub-2 mm staircase model for glass railing fabrication
The customer scanned newly constructed concrete staircases and needed a very accurate 3D model for the installation of glass railings. The geometry had to represent the real built condition, including stair flights, landings, edges and local construction deviations.
SPM3D received the scan data as an E57 point cloud and reconstructed the staircases as a clean CAD solid model. The final deliverable was provided in STEP format so the railing contractor could use it directly for detailed design, coordination and fabrication preparation.
Because the model was intended for glass railing installation, quality control was a central part of the work. Cloud-to-model comparison screenshots and deviation histograms confirm that the reconstructed geometry achieved less than 2 mm accuracy across the main staircase surfaces.
