Laser scanning and photogrammetry of the monument
The Bohdan Khmelnytsky Monument in Kyiv is dedicated to the Hetman of the Zaporizhian Host and was built in 1888. Located on Sophia Square on the axis between the belltowers of Saint Sophia Cathedral and Saint Michael's Monastery, it is one of the city's oldest sculptural monuments and a major visual symbol of Kyiv.
SPM3D documented the monument with a Leica ScanStation C10 laser scanner and a DJI Mavic 2 Pro photogrammetric survey, combining terrestrial scan geometry with aerial and close-range imagery. The resulting mesh records the complex silhouette, pedestal, sculptural surfaces and contextual geometry, making it useful for visualization, conservation records and future comparison.
The project took 1 day in the field and 3 days for processing. The final product was a detailed 3D mesh model of the monument in Kyiv, Ukraine.
